OUR HISTORY

Service to mankind, the promotion of scholarship, knowledge and achievement are the four major objectives of the Alpha Phi Alpha Delta Chi Lambda Educational Foundation, Inc.  In keeping with these objectives, the tradition continues.

The Young Gentleman’s Scholarship Beautillion was initiated in 1986 by Carl Birks, Dennis Bedford, Marvin Bell, Dr. William Finlayson, Reuben Harpole, Bonnie Newby and Richard Williams. Over three decades, it has provided scholarships and financial assistance to more than 125 young men who have have gone on to college and careers of high achievement.

Service and participation points are awarded over a four-month period for various activities such as: a Rites of Passage Program, Advertising Sales, Community Service Projects, a Career Showcase, and a Bucks Night Out.  Also, each Beau is assigned a coach and profession-based mentor from the foundation.

More than $5,000 in scholarships can be awarded at the Beautillion event, which will be held Friday June 20th, 2025 at Milwaukee's Hyatt Regency. In addition to each Beau receiving a $500 Book Scholarship (once the minimum criteria has been met), one Beau will advance and be crowned Mr. Beautillion and receive a $5000 Scholarship.
